@Trident Booksellers and Cafe & Cafe - Small cafe that can sometimes get a bit busy, but it's near to everything. Plenty of source materials here and GREAT food

@Wheelock College - May not be the BEST per say, but there are always new art installations at the Towne Art Gallery. Any of the Colleges of Fenway will have art exhibitions going on at any time

@Brighton Music Hall - Used to be Harper's Ferry and a million other names, but it has good sound for up front, a nice area in the back to get away from the crowds, a small bar, and a parking lot fit for raging
Where can I buy haute couture cheap?
